Relieving The Pressure – Using A Mounting Block

Gone are the days when using a mounting block was the ‘Lazy way’ to mount. But this interesting video from Equine Biomechanics demonstrates why!

Not only can mounting from the ground stretch your stirrup leathers and twist your saddle tree which will ultimately make you unbalanced when you are riding, it also applies a massive pressure to the horse’s spine.

Using a mounting block is a good way of helping to look after your horse’s back. The two videos below demonstrate the difference in mounting from the ground and using a tall mounting block.

Whatever the size of your horse, we have a size of mounting block to suit. We have a standard and premium range available from one of our stockists, or online here >
